The Essex Ferret Welfare Society consists of a group of people who keep and/or work ferrets. The Society membership is broad based and consists of a wide cross section of trades and professions (plasterer, bus driver, accountant, policemen and students to mention a few).

The aims of the society are to heighten people's general appreciation and understanding of the ferret, to dispell myths about ferret behaviour and aggression, to provide support and guidence for ferret owners and to give advice on ferret husbandry and welfare.
