| Black tarry stools indicate gastrointestinal bleeding and are frequently associated with enteritis, an inflammation of the intestinal tract, and with times of stress such as coat changes and heat. |
| A 'wait and see how it is tomorrow' attitude can easily cost your pet its life. The symptoms cannot be ignore. Consult your veterinarian and be sure to follow their advice on what doseage and how many days to administer any medication. Be sure that your ferret drinks plenty of water whilst being treated. |
| Some drugs can be hard on the kidneys and ferrets are somewhat susceptable to kidney problems. Drinking water seems to reduce the risk of developing kidney complications. Note: The first stool after whelping is black and tarry but this is normal. |
