Posterior Paralysis ('The Staggers')
The causes of paralysis in ferrets are many and varied, including disease of the spinal disks, hypocalcaemia (lack of calcium in the blood), Alutian disease, viral myelitis (inflammation of the spinal cord), cancer of the spine, vertebral trauma or even a dietary deficiency. It is often caused by injury and paralysis can also be inherited.
In all case of paralysis veterinary advice must be sought immediately.
